About the Speaker

Mr. Hiroyuki Takata, serving as the Regional Officer, ATM since October 2017 at the ICAO Asia and
Pacific Regional Office in Bangkok, Thailand, is dedicated to his role. His responsibilities include
conducting ATM-related regional meetings and organizing ATM implementation projects, all aimed at
supporting the APAC States in managing their traffic growth.

He started his career as an Air Traffic Controller at Fukuoka ACC in Japan and has more than 15
years of experience as a qualified ATC and Air Traffic Flow Manager. He also has more than ten years of
experience working at the management level at various sections of JCAB Headquarters.

Airspace and Airport Capacity

The air traffic is expected to increase in the coming years, hence the initiative of Next Generation Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM) to be implemented for the Asia Pacific region with an objective of having a seamless cross-border arrangement highlighted at ICAO. Through seamless cross-border arrangement, it is anticipated routing in the sky to be seamless, leading to better airlines flight time and frequency and increase of airport capacity. The session is all about sharing the aspirations of the airlines, airport and air traffic controller anticipating this initiative to materialize.
