About the Speaker

Martin Ryan was appointed Chief Commercial Officer at Abu Dhabi Airports in February 2025, bringing over 25 years of senior commercial experience. He leads the development and execution of Abu Dhabi Airports' commercial strategy, ensuring it continues to strengthen its position as a global aviation leader.
His expertise encompasses strategic planning and execution, business transformation, stakeholder engagement, project management and commercial development.

Prior to joining Abu Dhabi Airports, Martin held leadership roles across aviation, retail and property development. He spent 13 years at Brisbane Airport as Executive General Manager, where he played a key role in the A$5 billion ‘Future BNE’ project. He also served as a Management Committee Member for The Committee for Brisbane, and as a Director for Parking Australia.

Martin holds a Bachelor of Business in Accounting from Queensland University of Technology (QUT).

Over the years, many airports have transitioned from infrastructure entities to autonomous businesses. This trend underscores the need for airports to develop multiple revenue streams and to expand non-aeronautical commercial offerings to diversify risks, enhance competitiveness and strengthen financial resilience.
