About the Speaker

Freda Cheung is an accomplished senior executive with over 30 years of progressive management expertise. As the President & CEO of Asia Pacific, Avolta, a leading travel retailer, Freda is responsible for overseeing the company's operations and strategic direction across the region.

Before her current appointment, Freda had an impressive career at Dufry (now Avolta), where she served as Executive Vice President and Country General Manager for Dufry US and Canada from 2020 to 2023. She also held the position of Senior Vice President, Commercial from 2017 to 2019. In these roles, Freda was instrumental in driving sustainable growth and shaping the region’s commercial strategy. Prior to that, she served as the CEO of World Duty Free Canada from 2010 to 2016, leading exponential growth and developing solid partnership with airports.

Freda resides in Singapore and enjoys travelling and meeting new people.

Diversifying Commercial Offerings at Hubs – Latest Trends of Non-aeronautical Activity Development at Airports

Over the years, many airports have transitioned from infrastructure entities to autonomous businesses. This trend underscores the need for airports to develop multiple revenue streams and to expand non-aeronautical commercial offerings to diversify risks, enhance competitiveness and strengthen financial resilience. 

In this panel session, we will hear from top executives from airports, retailers and association in the non-aeronautical business domain sharing valuable insights regarding the shift in travelling patterns and spending behaviors, and the importance of technology and sustainability in serving our passengers.
